I meet Spencer Tunick and his crew a few hours after they landed in Israel for their Dead Sea installation shoot
Tuesday morning, a friend of mine called me and asked if I wanted to go with her to an open house party in Savyon to meet Spencer Tunick. Of course I had heard of his installation’s using thousands of naked people as part of a landscape. I even wanted to be part of the Dead Sea photo shoot. However, after signing up to be one of the 1,000 models (I had heard that over 4,000 people volunteered to be part of the project!), when I heard that volunteers had to pay 150 nis to be part of the project, I decided it wasnt for me. That didn’t meen I didn’t want to meet the guy though, and an invitation to a party with free booze and in Savyon (5 minutes from my house!) – that i couldn’t pass up. The party was full of beautiful people, in a beautiful setting (the home of Kate Lahav). I met Spencer – although I think He was pretty dazed, having just got off a trans Atlantic flight a few hours previously. His crew seemed full of energy and excited to be in Israel. but mainly, I’m happy to support this project, as it is a statement of freedom for Israel, and a great way to get some notice of the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea has been nominated as a possible “Natural wonder of the World”. We really need to protect this wonderful sight of ours better, and hopefully this will help bring awareness to this, and maybe even some more votes. If anyone is reading this, please vote for the Dead Sea here. (It takes a few minutes but it is so worth it!)
