O.K. enough about the celebs! By the time Lazar and I arrived, the party was in full swing! (it was only 5:15 pm!) The place was packed with beautiful people, dressed to the “T”. After the runway, and checking in our things, we walked through a canopied entrance, and on the right, first art work you see, are my two sculptures! This was the area for the Best Emerging Artist.
Had to look at my pieces up close:
Now that I saw that my pieces were in place, It was time to start looking around…. and guess what I saw? Two peoples art from Israel that I recognize!
My good friend and erotic artist H. Samarel!

Itzik Iluz … and it turnes out my serious competitor for Best Emerging Artist Award in Mixed Media. I had met Itzuk in August at an exhibition in Ranaana, and I love the work he does using lights!

I also met another Israeli Artist who was showing her work at GLAAD, Tamar Hirschl – (sorry Tamar, I don’t have any photo’s – please send me so I can post:-).
Israeli’s are everywhere! O.k – time to move beyond my comfort zone, and the do some serious mingling!

I found my PERFECT DANCING PARTNER, with Actor Patrick Askin. After dancing the night away with him, he proposed to be my Gay Husband …. I accepted in a second, but I’m afraid the distance between Israel and New York has put a rift in our relationship 🙁 check him out here, he is gorgeous!

What about Lazar? he was off networking on his own, but I did manage to catch a picture of him in his new look (the tie he borrowed from Kenny is a vintage Gianni Versace, It took alot of convincing to get him to wear it! What do you think?
now those are the people that I connected with and exchanged cards with – what a fun evening…. but wait, what about the art auction? Who won? Were my pieces bought by a prestigious art collector?
Here is a small video from the Art Auction of one of my favorite pieces by Ron Amato, valued at $1,200

There were 6 items auctioned off in this manner with the highlights being a signed lithograph by Henri Matisse valued at $8,500 sold at around $5,000. Another highlight was a piece by Jordan Eagles (blood, copper , preserved on plexi-glass, UV resin) valued at 10,000 usd and sold at around $6,000 . All the other pieces were auctioned silently, meaning there was retail price, then opening bid (usually at about 20% of the value) and then people would write their names and up the bid’s till closing time. Looking around, not so many pieces sold that evening, which was really a disappointing, and those that did, were under $500.

I lost! and she couldn’t even say my name correctly! (actually that was the part I liked the best:-) and to top it off, my pieces didn’t sell either, which meant I had to lug them home again with me:-( Ah well, the evening was fun, I made some good connections, had a lot to drink, danced, got proposed to, and … got to wear my blue wig!
at the end of the evening, singer Kimberly Locke belted out an amazing song – skip to half way through to the second song “8th World Wonder”

I danced till they shut the place down (10:00 pm!). I took my gift bag (an american thing to keep people at an event) and my sculptures, and Lazar and I took a cab back to Kenny’s where he was waiting to hear all about our evening.
END OF DAY 4
