Day 7 – Last Day in New York, My cold was getting worse! Nov. 22, 2011 A Daily Journal of New York

Tuesday, November 22nd 2011.  Last Day In New York

I had no energy left.  I woke up sick and tired.  Kenny and Lazar took me to Artie’s Deli on 82nd and Broadway, the corner Deli where I had some Matzo Ball Soup, and potato latkes (Passover food is served year round!).  Lazar had an amazing  pastrami sandwich, and it looked so good, I bought a pound of it to take home to my mom in Israel!

I really wasn’t feeling so well, so I went back to Kenny’s to sleep, while the two guys went and did guys things.

They came back after a few hours, and Lazar and I went to the supermarket and drugstore to stock up on some american goodies to take home with us.

After filling my system with some good over the counter drugs, I was starting to feel better.  Our last night in New York!  We took Kenny out to an amazing steak dinner at a place called Aged on Broadway. It was one of those OH MY G*D kind of restaurants where everything is SOOOOO good!

last night… and there was still one thing left on my list that i would never forgive myself it I didn’t do.  We took the subway to the Village.

Yep, it was time for some music!  We entered into a jazz bar, just as the second band took stage. they were two twins and they started jamming with each other some complicated jazz sounds.  It sounded great, but I was in the mood for something more lively with vocals, so we took to the streets.  Went into a few places, but none of them had the sound I was looking for.  It was really really really cold by now on the streets but we pressed forward.  Entered into a small pub called Arthurs Tavern on 57 Grove Street, and I new I had found what I was looking for.  This old blues band, with the lead singer belting it out like B.B. King.

I sat there all warm inside listening to the music just flow over and through me!

When they finished their session, we took the subway back to Kennys, and I stumbled onto my couch for one last night of Nyquil blessed sleep.

Wednesday 23rd

We got up, packed, took a taxi to the airport, got on the plane, and after taking another Nyquil, I had the best flight ever, to be woken up two hours before landing for the wonderful gourmet meal :-),  and the afternoon prayers.

Even before landing, I already felt I had returned to Israel!

END OF JOURNAL – Thank You for Reading.
