Sharing Tree – Interactive Installation at Midburn June 2014

The Sharing Tree was created completely out of recycled materials. Based on the principle of Gifting: “Burning Man is devoted to acts of gift giving. The value of a gift is unconditional. Gifting does not contemplate a return or an exchange for something of equal value”.

People were invited to “pick a gift” from the tree, to “share a gift” onto the tree.

The response and interaction during the festival was AMAZING!
a few personal storries that people told me:

“I lost my sunglasses, I went to the tree, and someone gifted me another pair”
“When the policemen came by I invited them to pick a gift. the next day, they came and placed a gift on the tree themselves”
“My cup was lost, and I picked another one off the tree”

If you have a story from the tree – I would love it if you would tell it.
